Today we released a major new version of our SplashID Android app.
Good news is we have delivered on the #1 request coming in from our many Android users — fingerprint login!
(SplashID iOS users of course have access to fingerprint login through our Touch ID option under Settings > Security.)
So how does fingerprint access work for our Android app? It’s easy!
1. It works only on Android devices with Android Marshmallow (6.0 or above)
2. And of course your Android phone or tablet needs to have fingerprint capability
3. You need to have at least one fingerprint already “enrolled” on your device. Please consult your phone documentation to enroll fingerprints.
4. Now, to enable fingerprint unlocking in the SplashID Android app, just go to Settings -> Security Settings screen, switch it on, and you’ll be good to go!

Please make it backwards compatible to Android Lollipop. Most phones aren’t on Marshmallow yet.

See directions here. If it’s not working, you most likely don’t have an Android Marshmallow device or you don’t have a fingerprint enrolled yet.

Just found out that the fingerprint access will not work on Samsung Note 4. This is even after upgrading to Android 6.0.1. Was told told that this is due to Samsung has already developed the fingerprint was back before Android did.
This is some not so good news for Samsung Note 4 users.
When will fingerprint login be available on IOS devices?
Hi Kate, good news — Touch ID access has been available on iOS since the launch of SplashID version 8. Just look under Settings > Security
I can’t find the fingerprint access switch under Splash ID settings/security. I have Splash ID Safe 8.1.2, Build 877 and m y phone is running Android 6.0.1. (I use fingerprint access currently to unlock the phone). Am I missing something?

Awesome feature with one HUGE implementation flaw!
On the login screen where it asks you to ‘Unlock using your fingerprint’, you placed the ‘Unlock using password’ option at the bottom of the screen, which on many devices is right next to the home button, where you have swipe your finger. It’s almost impossible to swipe your finger without touching the ‘Unlock using password’ button, which of course overrides the fingerprint option!
Please move the ‘Unlock using password’ option somewhere else on the screen, away from where the user swipes their fingerprint.
Note 4 with Android 6.01 and Splash 8.1.2 build 877 also does not show access to use the fingerprint reader.
I don’t want to offend the people having trouble with this but mine worked the first time and its absolutely brilliant. It means that I can now increase the complexity of my password without having to sit there typing all day just to get in!!!

Loving it!!! As Dennis said above, I can now strengthen the master password – I had reservations making it so strong that logging in to SplashID on Android would be painful. Even with my ‘simpler’ password, I have to switch to the symbols page of the keyboard, then the second page of symbols, go back to numbers, and use the text keyboard twice
