We have an incredible amount of interest in a version of SplashID for iPhone. We started getting requests months before the iPhone came out and we opened up a waiting list. As you can imagine, interest spiked even more after the iPhone’s release. Then I was looking at our site’s search data this week, and “splashid for iphone” and variants are all near the top. So I thought it was high time to let you know that SplashID for iPhone is in the works! It looks amazing — Justin was showing me some screens at the Handango conference in San Diego last week, and they are fantastic. We’re aiming to launch a beta before the end of the year. We’ll keep you posted as we near launch!

I’ll buy a copy as soon as it comes out. SplashID is one of the top applications I’ve missed since moving from my Treo 650.

I too plan on buying it as soon as it comes out. I’ve been a huge fan of SplashData from back in the day and love the fact that your products helped me to easily migrate from Windows to Mac OS X.
Now that I’ve migrated from Palm OS to the iPhone, SplashID has been one of the “killer apps” that I miss something fierce. So if SplashData can migrate my mobile devices as well, that will definitely be something special.
I saw that S3 has come out with an application that is similar. Is the secure web page model what SplashID is going to do?

Yes, good call! This is actually the other application for iPhone that’s in active development right now, although it will come out after SplashID for iPhone.
Since Apple’s SDK announcement, I imagine we won’t (or can’t) see a released version for the iPhone until at least February, 2008???
This is great news! Splash ID for iPhone can’t come soon enough. It’s the one missing piece of my transition from cell phone/Palm Tungsten to the iPhone. Will it be a native app or web based? Will it sync/back-up to the desktop like the Palm version? Will it have it’s own password protection like the Palm version? Will we be able to merge our current info with the iPhone version? So many questions, but I’ll be waiting impatiently to buy it.
I’ve got my old Treo 650 on my desk *solely* for Splash ID and am in desperate need of it on my iPhone. I’m hoping that it makes use of Apple’s new internal SDK that’s being released in February. The big concern amongst many of us I think is security. Any web based solution would have potential security implications and would be frustrating in the event there is no web access.
I’m not a big fan of remote server-based storage of all my passwords. And it’s not the encryption/decryption I worry about — that part I actually trust.
But the part about my data residing on one (or more redundant) servers out in cyberspace, literally anywhere in the world, scares me.
1Password, a competitor, has taken a different approach than requiring remote server-based storage, but it’s not fast. It does, however, spare me from entering access data each time I navigate to a site (quite cool), and it has plans for Internet-based storage. I might someday adopt this — heck, I use .mac remote storage, but not for keychain or password-related stuff. That’s just a leap I can’t yet make.
What I love about SplashID is its speed and ease of use. I realize that Apple’s UI isn’t as fast as Treo’s, but assuming you make use of the SDK coming next February, PLEASE don’t bog SplashID down in too many sexy UI gimmicks. Yeah, the Apple iPhone has an amazing interface, but there are some operations that take WAY too many steps to complete (like scheduling a calendar item). I think fellow bloggers would agree that part of SplashID’s appeal is its simplicity and SPEED. So please, make it QUICK: an icon to launch, a password to open, a search-as-you-type entry and voila! When I need a password, card number, whatever…I need it now, not two minutes from now.

The original announcement was made before Apple announced the iPhone SDK, so I’m guessing it’s a web app that they have nearly completed 🙁 ….I just hope the latest Apple announcment spurs on a Native application. 🙂
SplashID is a killer app for me – to the extent I would have to keep my old XDA just to look at SplashID!
The availability of Splash Money, ID, and Shopper will make or break my decision to buy an iPhone. I just want to make sure that it is a native application, and that it doesn’t always require an internet connection.
I’m a die hard user of Splash Money. I’m still using my palm 515 because I cannot let go of my Splash Money. I want to buy an iPhone I need to be able to run Splash Money on it. I hope Splashdata develops Splash Money & SplashID for the iPhone soon.

Hey, thanks to you guys for developing both SplashID and SplashShopper for the iPhone. I especially rely on SplashShopper for numerous lists on my Treo, and once you develop that for the iPhone, I’ll get one — it’s the biggest reason I haven’t purchased one yet.
Now, if you can develop a SplashNotes for the iPhone and a “SplashToDo” that would be even better!
Great to see this happen. With Palm leaving the PDA market by a series of poor decisions that have left them helpless and vulnerable, it is great to see that SplashData is capable of shifting to new platforms so willingly and in such a timely manner.
What is curious, is how this can be pulled off so quickly, while development of SplashID for the Mac has fallen behind. One would think that a natively written application for the iPhone and the iTouch (both running a variant of OSX) would be easier if based on the existing Mac client. However, the OSX version is still on version 3.32.
What will we see by the end of 2007? A Web 2.0 server based application? Or a native locally running version based on the yet to be released SDK? We have also not seen any information on how to sync between iPhone/iTouch and either the Mac or the PC. So it is doubtful that this announcement, as great as it seemed at first, will not be the same experience as one such as myself would have hoped.
Please prove me wrong and surprise me with a true and full port of the Palm version of SplashID to the iPhone/iTouich.
Granted this requires you to hack the iPhone (which is as easy as it could be at this point) but there’s an iPhoneLockbox app that works wonderfully…great UI, AES128 encryption and it’s native to the iPhone so no internet required.
I’m looking forward to SplashID (been using on Blackberry for years) but until then the Lockbox app works great.

I have the SplashWallet suite and use SplashID everyday. My husband gave me an iPhone and I thought about not keeping it since I rely so much on Splash ID. However, my family really wanted me to keep the iPhone, which I love. I hope there’s a SplashID version for iPhone soon.
sOne thing not to overlook is that many people use SplashID simply as a database app, wherein the security issues surrounding remote storage are not that significant. For instance, I store my wine info in SplashID. There isn’t really another good, all-purpose, web-based database app for mobile. Zoho Creator is not great. So a web-based SplashID would rock.

Great, as all the others above, I was really missing SplashID. PLEAAASE do ot make it web-based. There are so many places where you do need the application but can’t access the web. In Europe we don’t have edge anymore (too outdated!!!)so if there is no WIFI we can’t connect to the internet.
I will also be buying the SplashID and SplashShopper apps for iPhone as soon as they are released. I use SplashID every day on both the desktop and Palm. PLEASE keep us informed so we don’t start using something inferior. Thanks!

SplashID is the ONLY reason I held onto my Treo and still have to lug it around. I need that app on my iPhone so bad it’s ridiculous. I’m completely addicted to SplashID.

Can you give us an update on status? The SDK is official within a few weeks and as of yesterday, AT&T started offering business plans for the iPhone. I personally use SplashID to keep my Treo 680 in sync with my Mac. I’ve ordered an iPhone now and will be looking to get SplashID working on it. My email is andrew@nccomp.com. which mentions a web based version. With the iPhone SDK around the corner and sync’ing capabilities via iSync, etc… I’d much prefer an app on my iPhone versus a hosted solution. These are, after all, my passwords. With all the website hacks and such plus ISP outages and peering issues, I doubt I would use an online tool to manage my passwords. I would, however, have no problem paying for an app or upgrade to use it on my iPhone.
Bring on SplashShopper for iPhone. Make my wife VERY Happy. She loves her iPhone and wants to throw away her Palm. As the saying goes…Happy Wife, Happy Life!

Like other users I want a version that is stores data on the iPhone – not a server system for obvious security reasons (and anyway there are such systems out there). Sync may be the only way to load data from a desktop I guess.
How an official update? Will we be seeing SplashID for the iPhone / iTouch soon?
I’m on board for buying an iPhone app version, but not a remote/web based version. I need access from places that don’t have cell service.

Please announce the current status of SplashId for iPhone development. I, too, would like to see local app for security, access & speed reasons. My productivity is way down since changing my pocket device from Treo to iPhone & losing SplashId. You (Morgan) posted announcement on this blog in Oct 07, but no “official” news since. Availability of SplashID was one of three things that slowed my acquisition of an iPhone (the other two were access to Microsoft Exchange and my favorite Chinese-English dictionary), so PLEASE let’s get the beta out there! I’d be happy to be a guinea pig!

SplashID? Only if the data is stored on the device itself (native app?) rather than web based. And that would go for SplashMoney too.
Actually it’s SplashMoney that I’m hanging out for. I’m still using a Palm because I absolutely depend on SplashMoney for keeping track of everything. I will buy an iPhone in a heartbeat – but only when I can run a native/device-based SplashMoney on it!
